Reflection final post

Integrating Technology across the content area has allowed me to think about thinking and apply strategies to regulate and oversee there learning in the classroom.  When the lesson of the GAME PLAN was introduced in this classroom I began thinking of a lesson  plan.  Later I found our that a GAME PLAN promotes self directed learning which is "any increase in knowledge, skill, accomplishment, or personal development that an individual selects and brings about by his or her own efforts using any method in any circumstances at any time" (Cennamo, Ross, & Ertmer, 2009, p.1). GAME PLAN also helped me set goals, take action, monitor and evaluating student work.  Learning to use technology effectively has allowed I was able to give a clear understanding for students to have them be actively engaged throughout there learning process.  By using the GAME PLAN I was able to integrate technology more into my lessons allowing students to be self-directed learners.  Game plan also helped me adjust a lesson for students with special needs and learning issues.
This week I learned of a website that will help my classroom break the ice on a new lesson plan.  www.flocabulray.com which is a website similar to khan academy which allow teachers or learners to  find information, auditory learning, video, graphic and story telling.  I have been looking for different ways to keep the students interest and also develop lesson plans that will help the students learn how to be effective during a lesson.  As a mathematical educator incorporating technology has been challenging  but after this class I have learned different techniques and ways to incorporate technology in my lesson.  One example is teaching a student with the use of video, or getting feedback from a blog or an online assessment.   I am a firm believer that the more students use technology the more knowledgeable and confident they become after using it.

Game Plan Changes

Game plan Changes

This week were asked to receive ideas from colleagues for advice. In my previous post I discussed first finding information from the internet.  I recently discussed options with another colleague about using a different technology.  She believe it easier to use a You Tube instead of finding a webcast, only because more students are use to viewing clips from You Tube instead of webcast.  This week course text discussed assessing student learning.  "Assessing is an important part of the learning process.  Classroom assessments promotes learning by:  involving, sharing learning goals with students, helping students know and recognize the standards for which they are aiming, involve students in self assessment, provide feedback that leads to student recognizing their next steps, believe that students can improve and last reflect on the assignment" (Cennamo, Ross, Ertmer, 2009, p. 138-139).

The goals selected were first reviewed by me then I looked at what my colleagues want me to work on.  Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.  In my weekly discussion boards I learned to develop assignments that are not only good for the classroom but more realistic assignments.  I original wanted to use the podcast to help with creativity for students to listen to other students  by using the 21st century material. After using the internet I now understand that You Tube is used more in teenager versus podcast.

For this lesson to be effective I must be able to Communicate relevant information and ideas.  Todays students lack good social skills because many text all of the times this is why  I am still searching for different skills to help me communicate in the classroom.  I have learned for previous classes with out communication projects and assignments are done wrong and students need help to finish them.  This is why I have a meeting set up with my colleagues to develop other resources.  I have recently been reading different types of online communnities that will help me become more knowledgeable as a teacher and help the student grow.

Progression in Game Plan 3

Upon looking at my Game Plan I noticed that their is so much room for improvement.  To began I need to find more resources to help with developing my post.  The internet has so much information that can be used to help develop a progression in a game plan.  The course reading discussed how doing a instruction teachers need to clearly communicate your expectations of what students should do before, during, after their computer time before they actually get there" (Cennamo, Ross, Ertmer, 2007  p.102).

As far as my objective I have been looking at different podcast programs that are free to use for students.  This way this project can be done in the classroom and the students who do not  have a electronic device they can still participate in this project.

In goal two I learned of  a recent website that is good for teacher to support educatorw in creating curriculum with place as the  context, service learning as the strategy, and sustainability as the goal.  A feature of this site is "learning about a diverse and dedicated community of educators and a robust set or tools for sharing ideas and examples of work in the field? (Community Work Institute, 2013, p.1).

I also use the tech resources that Dr. LeBeau posts in our discussion threads each week.  I do need to focus more on appropriating more technology that I can have at my beck and call whenever I need it for my students.
My goal on joining learning communities is a bit more difficult.  I currently am part of this wonderful Walden comm

Hiraman Game Plan

Hiraman's Game Plan
Week 2 application
11/6/13

Everyday teachers develop a lesson plan or game plan on what they are going to do during a lesson in class.  During this application I will be discussing my game plan are two indicators from international society for technology education or ISTE-NET-T and set goals for strengthening my confidence and proficiency.

Goal#1:  "Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS·S" (ISTE-NET, 2008, p.1).

Goal: Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

Action:  The action I would take is getting ideas from my educational specialist, other teachers, and principal to discuss some possible options for my class in the 21st century.  I am hoping to learn of information that will make my classroom more interesting through the use of digital tools.

Monitor:  Once the action is ready to go I will use it in the classroom and after class I will evaluate my experience with conducting this learning experience.  This will be done by using questions:  Do I think the classroom enjoyed the project?  Will this experience help them achieve higher learning progress in school?  Is there a need to change my creative experience or does it need to be changed?  I will also monitor with recorded data from student performances after getting the lesson.

Evaluate:  Even with all of the constant updating in technology it is important to evaluate the actions to see if everything is working.  This will be done by observation of me.  I will be making sure the lesson is implemented and if something is wrong I can give constructional criticism and find our what is the issue with the plan.

Goal 2:  "Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society" (ISTE-NET, 2008 p.1).

Goal: For this lesson to be effective I must be able to Communicate relevant information and ideas
effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats.

Action:  To make sure this is effective I would want to set up a parent teacher conference and speak to the parents during that day and make sure we have a plan and going forward with their child  in the 21st century.

Monitor:  I will monitor by being the spokesman and listening to other people input as well as questions or concerns during this plan.  Also the different parties will be able to communicate the different issues with the plan.

Evaluate:  This will be evaluated with a evaluation for to which the parents, peers will have the opportunity to express their feelings about the plan and give feed back that will help me come up with the best plan for both parties.
